By profession, I am a teacher, a story teller, and an author.
Everything I do is underpinned by the fact that I am at heart teacher.
Therefore, it makes perfect sense that everything about this website will be underpinned by the fact that I am a teacher.
Paul's History Club, to some degree, is an educational platform.

What am I teaching?
Lots, I would hope.
History.
History is fun.
The discovery and pursuit of history is real adventure.
Show how history is written.
How history is rewritten.
Show why history is written.
History is exciting.
All history is connected. Therefore all people are connected. The world is one family.

What is my agenda?
The heart of the matter is this;
I want everyone to get interested in what is in their backyards. My back yard is Vietnam.
I want everyone to get interested in what is in their backyards. My back yard is Vietnam.
How will I do this?
The premise which underpins modern education is that all learners must WANT to learn. Therefore learners (and in this case, prospective history buffs) must be interested in learning (and in this case, learning history).
The most powerful educational tool to achieve this is DISCOVERY LEARNING (Jean Piaget). Discovery learning is when the learner is convinced that they discovered that new piece of information (and in this case, a piece of historical information) themselves.
One way I get readers interested in Vietnam's history is via Paul's History Mystery cases.
Readers are encouraged to add what they know about the mysteries, to help move the story along.
The mystery does not have to have a final ending - history is often not like that. The success of the article is if it has encouraged anyone to become interested. Get it?
Most history mysteries are usually commenced by setting up a possible scenario. Teachers are very happy to have their scenarios proven wrong. It shows people are researching. "Mission accomplished!" (Tom Cruise).
